Melody offers a range of classes, courses and workshops both through Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society and independently. Whether you are an aspiring Burlesque star or just somebody looking to have some fun while learning something new, there is a class for you.

Becoming Burlesque

Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society presents a two month intensive course that ‘turns the girl next door into a whole lot more!’ This class covers everything one needs to know to perform Burlesque for their first time including: history of Burlesque; dance and movement; comedy; hair, makeup and costuming; and professionalism. Tuition includes a fabulous, hand tailored burlesque outfit including pasties, glamour photos and personal studio time. This is a great course for anyone who wants to get involved in performing burlesque in a comfortable, friendly, supportive environment.

The class consists of two and a half hour classes plus one hour of personal coaching each week for eight weeks. Classes are taught by Melody Mangler with April O’Peel and guest instructors at The Chicken Coop - Screaming Chicken’s east Vancouver rehearsal studio. All students will develop a solo number, as well as learn a group routine that will be performed at a public recital. The cost of tuition includes a costume for the group number, a photo shoot with a professional pin-up photographer and admission to Screaming Chicken's weekly drop-in classes.

Burlesque Aerobics

Screaming Chicken also presents the weekly, drop-in class Melody Mangler’s Burlesque Aerobics every Monday from 7-8pm. Shake your booty and laugh your ass off! Cardio combined with strength training using traditional burlesque props. Why use soup cans when you can use cute fans?

Parties and Private Instruction

Burlesque parties are great for stagettes or just for a girls’ night. Learn to twirl pasties, perform a sexy striptease or just pick up a few moves. Let Melody create the perfect experience for your event.

Melody also provides private instruction or coaching for performers of all levels. She can help you develop your first number or perfect your signature act.
